Jean S. McNeil Arnold, 65, 1834 Highway 421 North, Mountain City, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2001 in the Watauga County Medical Center, Boone, North Carolina. She was a native of Johnson County and was a daughter of the late Paul J. and Nell H. Osborne McNeil and was preceded in death by a nephew, Eddie Thomas. She was a homemaker and a graduate of the Johnson County High School Class of 1954. She was a member of the Shouns United Methodist Church and former pianist of the church and a member of the WMU.
Survivors include her husband, Dean Arnold, of the home; one daughter, Cindy K. Guy and husband Eddie, Foscoe, North Carolina; one son, David B. Arnold and wife Tracie, Boone, North Carolina; three sisters, Janice L. Hawkins and husband Dayton and Lola B. Laxton, both of Mountain City; Nancy J. Gurley and husband Louis, Bristol, Tennessee; two brothers, Jerry P. McNeil and wife Susanne, Roanoke, Virginia; Tom McNeil and wife Karen, Elizabethton, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Melissa D. Robinson and husband William, Mountain City; Tonya M. Burton and fiancee, Thomas, Zionville, North Carolina; Brian Farmer, Atlanta, Georgia; special friends, Shelia, Larry and Joey Triplett and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Shouns United Methodist Church with Bill Kayhill and Burl Greer officiating.
Burial followed in the Shouns United Methodist Church.
