Fred "Harv" Morefield, 55, 231 Dent Johnson Lane, Mountain City, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2002 at the Watauga Medical Center in Boone, North Carolina after an extended illness. He was a native of Johnson County, born on April 16, 1947 to the late Elbert "Ebb" and Hazel Forrester Morefield. Hewas retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Morefield, of the home; two daughters, Loy Manis and Amy and husband Tim Price, both of Mountain City, Tennessee; two sons, Freddy Morefield and Johnny Mack Brown, Jr., both of Mountain City, Tennessee; one sister, Muriel and husband John Payne, Mountain City, Tennessee; two brothers, Ray and wife Dorthy Morefield and Carl Morefield, both of Mountain City, Tennessee; one grandson, Montana Earl Price, Mountain City, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Jack Proffitt.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 21, 2003 at 8 p.m. at the Hux Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Porter and Rev. Ted Lewis officiating.
Burial was conducted Saturday, March 22, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Lewis-Forrester Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack Proffitt, Joe Guinn, Dave Guinn, Doug McFadden, Reed McFadden, Robert McFadden, Tim Price, Fred South and Bill Dunn.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. John Whitlock, Dr. Flint Gray, Dr. Jim Godwin, Dr. Mack and the Nursing staff at the Watauga County Medical Center.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Hux-Lipford Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
