William M. Hammons Cemetery

The name used comes from the progenitor of most of the people buried in this cemetery. This cemetery, in the death records for Johnson County, is called the Hammons Cemetery. The cemetery that is usually called the Hammons Cemetery lies just over the ridge from the William M. Hammons Cemetery, and contains William M. Hammons’ brothers and some of their descendants.

Location

Located in Johnson County, Tennessee. Access from Forge Creek Road, heading towards the NC line from Hammon’s Chapel Christian Church, pass a white house on the left, and take the next turn-in to the left (about 100 feet past the house’s driveway), go over the electric fence and through the metal gate and follow gravel access road up a ravine. The access road buttonhooks to the left and climbs the ridge to the cemetery. Cemetery is fenced and well cared for.
