J. C. SMITH, 81, Shouns, Route 1, died unexpectedly at his home Thursday night, Oct. 3. He was a merchant and a native of Johnson county. He was a member of the Hammons Chapel Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, J. T. Smith of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Inez Lewis, Mrs. Belle Lewis, both of Shouns, and Mrs. Bessie Martin of Mountain City; three brothers, Kite and Clyde of Abingdon, Va. and Harrison of Damascus, Va.; four sisters, Rebecca Martin, Susan Howard and Polly Stout, all of Shouns, and Pearl Rutlidge of Damascus, Va.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. at Hammons Chapel Christian Church, Sunday with Don Forrester and Rev. A. E. Browne officiating. Burial was in Smith cemetery.
