Richard L. Nave, 76, prominent Johnson County educator and merchant for a number of years, died at his home Sunday Feb. 2.
He was born at Neva, son of the late Robert L. and Rebecca Slemp Nave, pioneer Johnson County settlers. He resided on a 250 acre farm at Shouns for 35 years.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Nora Baker Nave; four daughters, Mrs. George Rheinschild of Pasadena, Calif., Miss Mae Nave of Nashville, Mrs. Lee Lowe of Shouns, and Mrs. W.W. Combs of Oak Ridge; two brothers, D.S. Nave and I.W. Nave; five sisters, Mrs. S.C. Slimp of Mountain City, Mrs. Jacob Waggoner of Bristol, Va., Mrs. M.P. Ward of Neva, Mrs. Susan Berry of North Dakota, and Mrs. Mollie Wagner of Washington state.
Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain City Christian Church with Rev. J.H. Dampier of Johnson City and Rev. Hayes in charge. Burial was in the Baker Cemetery at Shouns.

MRS. NORA B. NAVE, 80, died at her home at Shouns, Wednesday, Mar. 16. She was the wife of the late R. L. Nave, and a life-long resident of Johnson county. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Mountain City.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Rheinschild, Pasadena, Calif., Miss Mae Nave, Nashville, Mrs. Lee Lowe, Shouns, and Mrs. Wilburn Combs, Oak Ridge; six grandchildren; two brothers, R. E. Baker, El Centro, Calif. and J. J. Baker, Sacramento, Calif.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church with H. T. Mabry and Rev. Tom Worley officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Shouns. Hill Funeral Home in charge.
