Lena Dollar Roth, 99, 919 Medical Park Drive, and formally of Georgia Street, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away February 17, 2004 at the Mountain City Care Center, where she was a resident. She was born June 24, 1904 to the late Roby Smith Dollar and Sarah Margaret Simmons Dollar. She was born and raised in Mountain City, but had lived for many years in New York before returning to Mountain City in 1968. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain City and a Charger member of the Mountain City Senior Citizen's Center. Before the Senior Citizen's Center was established, Lena organized the golden Age Club, which was a forerunner of the Center and she was instrumental in obtaining the first Senior Citizen's Van for Johnson County. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Nathan Rothnagel, who passed away February 16, 1971 and eight sisters.
Survivors include one sister, Mae Cloutier, Mtn. Vernon, New York and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, February 20, 2004 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Reece officiating.
Interment followed in the Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain City, Tennessee.
Hux-Lipford Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
