Albert Blackburn
Albert "Finley" Blackburn, 86, of Little Rock Church Road, Boomer, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at the residence.
He was born Jan. 27, 1918, in Caldwell County to the late Roscoe and Docia Carlton Blackburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Howard Blackburn.
Mr. Blackburn was a self-employed sawmill operator and was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elzena M. Blackburn of the home; a son, Jesse Blackburn and wife Hazel of Moravian Falls; a daughter, Alta Steele of Boomer; two brothers, Grady Blackburn of Boomer and Thomas Blackburn of Granite Falls; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Hollow Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Robert Livingston.
The family will receive friends following the service at Little Rock Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Lewis Blackburn, Tommy Blackburn, Wray Steele, David Earp, Dwayne Andrews and Brian Andrews.

Mattie McGee
Mrs. Mattie Irene McGee, 78, of Lenoir, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007.
Born August 10, 1928 in Wilkes County, Mrs. McGee was a daughter of the late Otis and Mary Haas Pearson and the wife of the late Floyd Junior “Pete” McGee.
Mrs. McGee was a member of Poovey's Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Hoare and husband Tom of Denver, N.C.; one brother, Paul Pearson and wife Virginia of Cajah's Mountain; one sister, Margaret Greene of Lenoir; one granddaughter, Wendy Blair and husband Glen of Lenoir; one great-granddaughter, Amanda Triplett of Lenoir and one great-grandson, Bubba Blair of Lenoir.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2006 at Hollow Springs Primitive Baptist Church with Reverend Nicky Waters and Reverend Mark Dula officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church.

Reda Owens
Reda Church Owens, 75, of Pleasant Hill Road, Lenoir, passed away Monday, June 27, 2005, at Caldwell County Hospice.
Mrs. Owens was born in Caldwell County to the late Calloway J. and Lillie Carlton Church. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 24 years and was a member of Hollow Springs Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Church and Claude Calloway Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlin Kirby of Granite Falls, and Sherry Deal of Wilkesboro; two sisters, Hilda Elizabeth Munday of the state of Washington, and Nora Church Miller of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Jessica Davidson Strickland of Millers Creek and Amy Carole Davidson of Anderson, S.C.; and one great-grandson, Elisha Thomas Strickland of Millers Creek.
Funeral services will be conducted by Elder John Jackson and Elder Gene Watson at 11 a.m. today at Hollow Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Boomer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:30-11 a.m. today at her church.
Pallbearers will be Basil Kirby, Randy Deal, Terry Strickland, Tommy Davidson, Randy Watson and James Smith.

Verna Walker
Verna Jarvis Walker, 89, of Walkaway Place, Boomer, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 19, 1915 in Wilkes County to the late Finley and Ava McGee Jarvis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman L. Walker Sr.; two sons, Coleman L. Walker Jr. and Howard L. Walker; a granddaughter, Dreu Sjodin; a great-grandson, Joshua Hendrix; three brothers, Woodrow Jarvis, Ralph Jarvis and T.A. Jarvis and two sisters, Hazel Dewese and Nell Brookshire.
Mrs. Walker was retired as seamstress and Quality Control Supervisor with Blue Bell Inc. where she worked for 20 years and retired with 10 years of service as a librarian with the Caldwell County School System. She was the oldest graduate of Kings Creek High School; a member of the volunteers at Caldwell Memorial Hospital where she worked 1,000 hours of volunteer service and crocheted various articles for the hospital volunteers and was a member of R.S.V.P. She was a member of Hollow Springs Primitive Baptist Church where she was the oldest member.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Sidney Jarvis Walker and Linda of Pequot Lakes, Minn.; five daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Mary (Gene) Billings and Mrs. Ava Conley all of Kings Creek, Mrs. George (Louise) Adderholdt of Hudson, Mrs. Ron (Barbara) Hastings of Icard and Mrs. Charlie (Sharon) Hendrix of Lenoir; one brother, Charles "Buddy" Jarvis of Lenoir; a sister, Mrs. Virginia Palmer of Lake Wylie, S.C.; 22 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Hollow Springs Primitive Baptist Church conducted by Elder John Jackson and the Rev. Randy Goode. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Frank Walker, Scott Walker, Steven Walker, Wayne Conley, Tim Adderholdt, William Adderholdt, Joseph Hastings and Anthony Minton. Honorary pallbearers will be: Carl Jenkins, Alfred Jenkins, David Anderson, Carson Swanson and Edwin Lowe.
