Celia J. Farmer was born Jan. 22, 1847 and died May 14, 1904, aged 57 years 3 months and 22 days. She married John M. Payne in 1864 (written over in pencil "1866"). To this union ten children were born, all living except one. Mrs. Payne joined the Christian Church when very young. She leaves a husband and nine children.

Mrs. Lucille R. Payne, age 56, died in Grace Hospital, Banner Elk, NC, July 5. She had been ill for several weeks. She was a member of Hammons Chapel Christian Church.
Survivors are the husband, U. B. Payne; four sons, Raymond Hammons of Mountain City, Spencer and John Payne of Shouns, and Carl Payne of Fort Riley, KS; six daughters, Mrs. Mable Simcox, Mrs. Blanche Farmer, Mrs. June Hammons, Mrs. Dessie Head, Mrs. Cora Mae Head, and Betty Lou Payne; one brother, John Ramsey of Los Angeles, CA; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 pm at the Hammons Chapel Christian Church with H. T. Mabry officiating. Burial was in Payne Cemetery.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 pm at Hammons Chapel Christian Church with Rev. Noah Riddle officiating. Burial in Farmer Cemetery. Donnelly Funeral Home in charge.
