Charles Ruffin Potter, Sr. was born at Shouns, Tennessee, July 24, 1859 and died December 6, 1944, aged 85 years, 4 months and 12 days. He was married to Lydia Greer December 5, 1879. Mrs. Potter died September 30, 1911. To his union thirteen children were born, of whom eleven survive: Mrs. W. N. Riddle, Shouns, John J. Potter, Charleston, WV; Mrs. Dave Howard, Mountain City; M. W. Potter, Condon, OR; Mrs. Charlie Dowell, Shouns; G. C. Potter, Spokane, WA; Mrs. L. G. Parker, Carbon, WV; Mrs. Robert Stout, Carpenter, OH; S. E. Potter, address unknown; Mrs. Oscar Howard, Mountain City; and Charles R. Potter, Jr., Shouns.
Mr. Potter was married to Miss Danford Mast on April 10, 1912, and is survived by her and the above named eleven children, 44 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Mr. Potter was a member of the Baptist Church for over 40 years. He was a Mason. He was also a public county official for many years, during which time he held the offices of constable, high sheriff, member of the county court, coroner and county road commissioner.

Texann Wagner Potter, age 70, died on Oct. 14. She was born Sept. 7, 1874, at Shouns, and joined the Roan Creek Baptist Church at the age of 18.
She was united in marriage with the late John M. Potter on Jan. 31, 1895. To this union was born five children, of whom the following survive: Mrs. W. H. Payne, Mrs. R. S. Pierce, Miss Stella Potter and W. E. Potter. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, one great grandson, one sister and five brothers.

Mrs. Collie G. Williams, age 68, died in Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, Saturday. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
Survivors are the husband, J. R. Williams; one son, Joe Williams of Shouns; five daughters, Mrs. Emma Wagner of Hockessin, DE, Mrs. Hallie Dunn of Shouns, Mrs. Dolly Good of Wilmington, DE, Mrs. Pauline Greer of Hockessin, DE, Mrs. Ada Mae Osborne of Avondale, PA; four brothers, John Greer of Avondale, PA, Charley Greer of Baker, OR, Roby Greer of Shady Valley, Enoch Greer of Shady Valley, and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 pm at the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Albert Hill, Rev. Keene Roark and Rev. Roby Eggers officiating. Burial was in the Johnson-Potter Cemetery.
