Many of the graves belong to people whose families came from Johnson County, Ashe County NC, or Watauga Co NC. Surnames include (but are not limited to) Owens, Hilliard, Taylor, Graybeal, Greer, Stewart, Poe, Phillips, Arnold, Rosenbaum, Harr, White, and Brown.

W. C. Stewart, 82, died at his home at 907 Sixth St. Ext. , Friday morning following several months illness. (18 Dec 1959)
He was a retired farmer of the Harr Community, Holston Valley, and a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, and one son, Mrs. Julia White, Mrs. Vergie Bentley, Mrs. Rheadell Rutherford, and Dana Stewart, all of Bristol; five brothers, Joe Stewart of Oregon, Eck Stewart, Piney Flats, Dave Stewart, Alvarado, Va., Tom Stewart, Mountain City and Henry Stewart, Mountain City; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Paul Cook Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Stewart-Funeral services for W. C. Stewart will be conducted at Souths Chapel, Holston Valley, Sunday at 2 p.m. The Rev. J. F. Hodgson and Rev. G. L. Trivett will officiate. Burial will be in the Rooty Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bill Johnson, Hubert Trinkle, Willard Tenpenny, Councle Crusenberry, Bob Woodby and Arvil Wood. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the time of service. The body will remain at the Paul Cook Funeral Home.
