Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Edith Sexton, Toughkenamon, Pa.; a son, Bobby Sexton, Laurel Bloomery; a daughter, Trula Sexton, Laurel Bloomery; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lessie DiProspere, Kennett Square, Pa.; the father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. French Sexton, Mountain City; a brother William Sexton, Toughkenamon, Pa.; five sisters, Mrs. Juanita Sprinkle, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Eva Shelton, Erwin, Mrs. Mildred Scott, Glenmore, Pa., Mrs. June Osborne, Waterloo, Wisc., and Mrs. Ethel Sores, Savannah, Ga. Also two grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Wesleyan Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Norman Biggs and Rev. Blaine Eggers officiating. Burial was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Noland Burchett, 86, Route 1, Mountain City, Shingletown Community, died Friday 5:55 a.m., in the Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va., after an extended illness. She was a native of Virginia, but had made her home in Johnson County the greater part of her life. She was the widow of William Burchett, and the daughter of the late George and Frances Davidson Noland. She attended the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted from the Lewis Gentry Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Trivette officiating. Burial was in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

LILLIAN PHIPPS
Lillian "Till" Phipps, born July 23, 1924 in Taylors Valley, Virginia, passed away Monday, September 6, 2004 at her residence. She was a resident of Taylors Valley, Virginia, a daughter of the late John and Ethel Elliott Stout. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bruce J. Phipps; one daughter, Margie Phipps and one son, Steven Phipps. She was a member of the Taylors Valley Community Church and a member of the Liberty Christian Church in Mountain City, Tennessee.
Survivors include four daughters, Rose Holcomb and husband Billy, Judy Lewis and husband Donnie, Kitty Hamilton and husband David, all of Abingdon, Virginia; Elaine Crowder and husband Jerrell, Taylors Valley, Virginia; three sons, Randy Phipps and Mike Phipps and wife Anne, both of Taylors Valley, Virginia and Roger Phipps and wife Libby, Cassville, Missouri; two sisters, Rebecca Sponagule and husband Leo and Frances June Fetrow and husband Ross, both of York Haven, Pennsylvania; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Hutchinson officiating.
Burial followed in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Outreach Foundation Inc., 206 Abingdon Place, Abingdon, VA 24211.
Pallbearers were David Holcomb, Michael Phipps, Joey Phipps, Jerry Phipps, Rick Snyder, Gary Collie, Chris Phipps and Andrew Crowder.

Hazel Davidson Reid, age 89, of 1097 Shingletown Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband of 66 years, Heird Reid, on Thursday, September 8, 2005, at her home, following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, she was born on July 11, 1916 to the late William and Pearl Blackburn Davidson. In addition to her husband and parents, Hazel was preceded in death by one brother, Darius Davidson. Hazel was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed flowers and bluegrass music. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church and was hostess for the Friday night music at Reid’s store for 14 years. Her vacant chair will never be filled.
Hazel is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Betty Ann Davis and husband Glen and Janice Eastridge and husband Ralph; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry Reid and wife Norma; three grandchildren: Lynn Minks and wife Dawn, Wendy Snyder and husband Tracy and Michael Reid and fiancé Deena Hensley and one great grandchild, Trey Snyder, all of Mountain City, Tennessee.
Funeral Services for Hazel Davidson Reid will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2005 from the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Steve McCready to officiate.
Music will be under the direction of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Choir.
Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be: Jerry Brown, Benny Campbell, Wayne Taylor, Clifton Storie, Jim Reid, Tom Reid, Bill Reid and Lawrence Eastridge.

Mrs. Pearl Blackburn Davidson, age 76, of Mountain City, Tennessee, RFD 1, (Wesley Chapel Community) died in Johnson Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va., Thursday at 4:00 P.M., after a brief illness. She was a native of Arkansas, but had made her home in Johnson County for many years. She was the widow of the late W.A. Davidson and the daughter of the late P.H. and Dora Baird Blackburn.
She was a member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter: Mrs. Hazel Reid, Mountain City; four grandchildren: Darious E. Davidson, Philadelphia, Pa.; Betty Anne Tucker, Mountain City; Mrs. Janice Minks, Mountain City; James Terry Reid, Fort Riley, Kansas and three great-grandchildren.
Lewis Gentry in charge of arrangements.
Funeral services were conducted from the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Sunday at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Fred T. Morgan and Rev. A.E. Brown officiating. Burial was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
The pall-bearers[sic] were: Charles Eastridge, Robert Owens, Joe Sexton, Quincy McElyea, Jimmy D. Norris, Fred Taylor, Fred Reid and Homer Reid.
Flower bearers were ladies of the church and neighbors.

JOSEPH LEWIS SEXTON SR.
Joseph Lewis Sexton, Sr., 71, 320 Eastridge Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the Indian Path Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. He was a native of Bluefield, West Virginia, born August 24, 1932 to the late Famos Jack and Bessie Hendrix Sexton. He was a truck driver and mechanic. He was a member of the First District Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a big fan of Atlanta Braves baseball and enjoyed taking nature walks.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Lynn Dunn and husband Paul, Mountain City; four sons, Joseph L. Sexton Jr, Elizabethton; Jerry Dean Sexton, Mountain City; Michael Paul Sexton, Peachbottom, Pennsylvania and Bobby Joe Winters, Mountain City; one sister, Betty Hawks, Shady Valley; one grandson, Joseph Paul “Joey” Sexton; four granddaughters, Alisha Sexton, Beth Pennington, Brittany Townsend and Bessie Dugger and husband Tim; four great-grandchildren, Timothy, Jason and Kelly Dugger and Jason Teague and special nieces and nephews, Sharron Henry and James Hawks.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 2 p.m. from the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Graveside services and interment followed from the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ralph Eastridge, Terry Reid, Dennis Rudy, Wayne Taylor, Glen Davis, Tommy Owens and Dale Owens.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the First District Volunteer Fire Department.
Hux-Lipford Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
