Texie Henson, 84, 1433 Harbin Hill Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2004 at her residence following an extended illness. She was a native of Johnson County, born December 23, 1919 to the late Luther and Caudie Morefield-Forrester. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.D. Henson, who passed away July 13, 1994; one sister, Elsie Phillips and five brothers, Howard Forrester, Jim Forrester, Marvin (Mo) Forrester, Ralph Forrester and Hobart Forrester. She delivered "Meals on Wheels" for the Johnson County Senior Citizens for 18 years. She loved working in her garden and cooking. She was an active member of the Valley View United Methodist Church and a member of the Church Choir.
Survivors include four daughters, Nancy McGlamery and husband Cecil, Piney Flats; Sue Hensley and husband Jim, Brenda Snyder, all of Mountain City and Jo Henson, of the home; two sons, Larry Henson and wife Susie and Gary Henson and wife Kathy; one sister, Carrie Lee Payne, all of Mountain City; one brother, Bob Forrester, Piney Flats; seven grandchildren, Danny Hensley, Tim Hensley and wife Patti, Sheila Shaw and husband Jeff, Josh Price, all of Mountain City, Randy Hensley and wife Melanie of Johnson City, David McGlamery and wife Lisa, Piney Flats and Joe Snyder and wife Angie, Winston Salem, North Carolina; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special niece and caregiver, Lois Baumgardner and extended family, Glendell and Mary Alice Norris.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 2 p.m. from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Don Everhart and Randy Hensley officiating.
Music was under the direction of Randy, Melanie and Bethany Hensley.
Graveside services and Interment followed from the Wilson Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Glendell Norris, Wayne Ward, Ted Shores, Jake Lewis, Offie Hayworth Jr., Tommy Payne, Jim Wills, Bill Gentry and Carl Wiggins.
Honorary pallbearers were Ray Henson, Kemp Henson, Otis Henson, Ralph Poteet, Ralph Wilson, Jim Hensley, Cecil McGlamery and Dr. Jim Shine.
