Bastardy Compromise

Where Mary C. Stout daughter of Alfred Stout has an action of bastardy proceding in the County Court of Johnson County against J.N. Shoun and whereas the Said Alfred Stout Father of the Said Mary C. Stout had taken some steps towards bringing an action of Slander against Said Shoun and his wife and an action for damages against Said J.N. Shhoun all growing out of the Charge of Bastardy And the parties have this day met by themselves & Counsell and have Compromised all matters between them now pending as that could have been brought. The said Alfred Stout having been fully paid and satisfied for any damages he may have sustained as the father of the Said Mary C. Stout by reason of her being confined with the birth of a child alleged to have been begotten by the said J.N. Shoun, and for any cause of action for Slander by Said Shoun or his wife. The said Mary C. Stout is to dismiss her action of bastardy now pending as aforesaid at the next term of the County Court to be held for Johnson County, and the said Shoun is to pay the costs accrued upon the same. The said Mary C. Stout and Alfred Stout hereby acknowledges themselves fully paid for all and any cause of action that could be brought against the said J.N. Shoun for anything said or done growing out the Case as aforesaid this 11th day of Sept. 1870.
