To the Worshipful the county court of Johnson County Tennessee now siting and holding court for said county this the first Monday being the first day of January 1855
The Joint petition of John Reece and Casuel T. Madron of the state and county aforesaid your Petitioners would most respectfully represent unto your worships that on the fourth of December 1834 Petitioner Reece enter married with the mother of Petitioner Madron whos maiden name was Lucinda A. Madron in Ashe county state of north carolina your Petitioners would further Represent that them and the mother of Petitioner Madron and wife of the said Petitioner Reece have lived together as one family up to September 1848 at which time Petitioner Casuel T. Madron inter married with one Joanah Reece who is now the Mother of three children Landon C Madron Selia Madron and Alzenia Madron
Your Petitioners the wifes Lucinda A. wife of Petitioner Reece Joanah wife of Petitioner Madron is living and has Lived the same as one family since the first mentioned marriage with Petitioner Reece to Lucinda A. the mother of Petitioner Madron.
The prays of your Petitioner Madron is that your worshipful court Persuent to act of assembly in such case made and provided change his name from Casuel T Madron To Casuel T Reece and to change the name of his wife from Madron to Reece and his three children from Madron to Reece the Premises considered and in consiquence of said Casuel T having demeaned himself as a dutiful and obdient child Petitioner John Reece Prays your worshipful court by an order or decree to allow him to adopt said Casuel T as his son and heir to the same extent as though he had been born his own child fully authorised to inherit all the Property both real and personal that may belong to him before or at his death our Petitioners will ever pray &c.

John Reece & Casuel T Madron & others &c
This cause comming on to be finally heard and determined before the worshipful the county court of Johnson County Tenn. this first Monday it being the first day of January 1855 and it appearing that the allegations set forth in the petition filed in this cause are true it is therefore ordered adjudged and decreed that the name of Casuel T Madron be changed to Casuel T Reece and the name of his wife be changed from Joanah Madron to Joanah Reece and the name of L C Madron his child be changed to L C Reece and the name of Selia Madron his child be changed to Selia Reece and Alzenia Madron his child be changed to Alzenia Reece it is further ordered and adjudged and decreed that Petitioner John Reece be allowed to adopt the said Casuel T his son in the same way and to the same extent as though he had been born the child of said Petitioner John Reece and which adoption is hereby made giving him all the privilidges as an heir of said John Reece pursuent to act of assembly in such cases made and Provided it is further ordered that Petitioner pay the cost of this proceeding.
