Be it remembered that on the seventh day of June in the year of our Lord, 1876 Ara Greer and James W. Oliver, planters came before me a justice of the Peace for said County and Severally acknowledged them Selves to owe to the State of North Carolina Six hundres dollars to be respectively levied of their lands and tenements goods and chattles, if the Said Ara Greer shall make default in the performance of the condition under written. Viz That the Said Ara Greer Shall when her bastard child is born maintain Support clothe and instruct so that the said bastard child Shall not become cargable [sic] to the County afore said.
