These ORIGINAL documents are in the North Carolina State Archives in Raleigh, North Carolina and to my knowledge they have not yet been microfilmed. I've transcribed Polly Brown's Will, but have scanned the signatures and the other Loose Estate Papers are also scanned. The Wills in the Will Books in the County Courthouse were copied from the originals.

Estate Records of Polly Brown - Ashe County, North Carolina, 1838

Will

I Polly Brown of the County of Ashe and State of North Carolina Being weak of body but of sound and perfect Mind and Memory blessed the God Do this 15th Day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Houndred and Thirty Eight Douth make ordain and Publish this my last Will and Testament as follows First I give and Bequeath until My beloved Daughter Nancy Greer one Black cow and calk and my saddle, and one white Cow, and six Two year old hogs and the half of my househould furniture and four head of Sheep and ten Bushels of courn, and fifty pounds of Bacon, and fifteen pounds of lard and fifteen Bushels of potatoes.

And unto my beloved Daughter Franky Greer I give and bequeath one red heffer of Three years old, and one Black heffer of Two years old one red and white yearling and one other red and white yearling and one red and white Cow and one Black Cow, one Black yearline with a white Back One other Brown yearling and Thirettn head of Sheep and my Chest and half of my house Hould furniture, and my large pot and all the Balance of my hogs after given the six have menchand to my daughter Nancy and one hundred and Seventy five pounds of Bacon and one hundred of lard and one hundred and fifty Bushels of potatoes and all the Balance of my barn after giving my daughter Nancy the above mention ten Bushels and all my hay and oats and all my ruff fude of all Sortz and my bed that my son Hught lyes on.

And unto my beloved Son Hught Brown I give and bequeath my gray mare that he now Clames at this time and his rifle gun and all his working Tools.

And unto my beloved Little Grand Daughter Emeline Greer I give and bequeath my Bed.
