William McQueen's War of 1812 Military and Pension Papers

State of Tennessee, Washington County - To Wit:

On this 10th day of March 1852, personally appeared before the undersigned, acting Notary Public in and for said County, Wm McQueen aged 78 years, a resident of Johnson Co. state aforesaid and who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Wm McQueen who was a private in Capt. Winsells Co., Col. Ewin Allison's Regt. E. Ten. Militia, in the war with Great Britain declared by the U.States on the 18th of June 1813; that he was drafted in Carter Co., Ten. for a six months term in said war and on or about the 5th of January 1814, and continued in actual service in said war until the 18th of May Following, being four months, 13 days and was honorably discharged at Knoxville, on the day last mentioned, as may be seen from the enclosed original certicate of his discharge herewith presented - which is signed by his Lt. Buck, and his Col. his Capt being sick at the time.

He makes the above declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bty [bounty] Land to which he may be entitled under act 28 Sept. 1850, this as being sec'd land for his services, this being his first application.
