Dear Mrs. Katzman

I hope these photos come through. They would be a great addition to your JCT photo site. We believe they are of the 13th Tennessee Cavalry Association. There was a series of 5 of these pictures at my aunt's and the only person we can identify in all of them is my great-grandfather, Samuel E.P. McQueen(1839-1922). He served as 1st Sergeant of Company E. Samuel was a son of John B. McQueen and Abigail Nave and a grandson of Thomas McQueen/ Barbara Wills. He married Mary Ann Cornett in 1861 and lived in Johnson County his entire life.

I believe the smaller picture was the earliest gathering, for Samuel looks fairly healthy- he aged from meeting to meeting- and the larger photo, the last one he attended.

In the larger photo, he is in the back row, 3rd on the right from the flag. He still has a full head of grey hair and a beard. The gentleman in front of the rain spout on the right side of the building is William C. Arnold, Jr. whose photo is in the History of JCT 1986 on p.119. The officer in the portrait may be Col. John K. Miller who was the regimental commander, but I'm not sure. Perhaps some of your website's browsers can identify some of the other veterans.

If you can identify any of these veterans, please write to: Basil McVey and give the name, birth and death dates and the row # and location in the row...left to right. I will update the page to include this information. Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing from you.

Others who have identified pictures:
