Donnelly Brothers

 


This picture was taken prior to July 1921. It is a picture of the last three surviving children of William and Sarah McQueen Donnelly. Pictured left to right are:

James Carter Donnelly, 20 October 1839-24 May 1927. He was the youngest child of William and Sarah and the last to die. He was a Corporal in the 4th Tennessee Infantry (USA) during the Civil War. He died and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain City, Tennessee. Other pictures and biography can be found here.

Robert Henry McMullin Donnelly, 2 January 1835 - 3 March 1927. He was a Major in the 13th Tennessee Cavalry (USA) during the Civil War. He died in and is buried in the Rheatown Cemetery, Green Co., Tennessee. A picture of the Major and his wife can be found here.

William Kendrick Donnelly was born 14 January 1927 and died 6 July 1921. He lived and died in Mountain City, Tennessee and is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery. He was a Hotel Keeper. He married Rachel Alice Moore Kiser.

Rachel Alice Moore Kiser was born about 1843 and died 1903. She is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain City, TN. She was a daughter of Greene Moore and Sarah Shoun. She married John Lewis Kiser 10 October 1858 in Johnson Co., TN. He was born about 1837. I don't know his death date. They had the following children:

(1) William C. H. Kiser, b. 1860 in Johnson Co., TN
(2) Leila Kiser b. 17 January 1862 and died 1 June 1840, buried Mountain View Cemetery. She married Samuel D.G. Butler 6 August 1881 in Johnson Co., TN
(3) Mary J.V. Kiser, born about 1863

William Kendrick Donnelly and Rachel Alice Moore Kiser were married 31 August 1865 in Johnson Co., TN and they had the following children:

(1) Sarah (Sallie) D. Donnelly, 1866-1941. Married William Watson Matney 16 May 1883. She is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain City, TN.
(2) Richard Eugene Donnelly, 10 October 1868-2 September 1929. Married Carrie F. Wagner 15 June 1898. Richard and Carrie are both buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
(3) Lizzie M. Donnelly, 1871-1967. Lizzie never married and was one of those Carl B. Neal contacted when he wrote the "Donnelly, Barry, Butler Families". She is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
(4) John K. Donnelly, 1872 - 1897. Never married and was a Doctor. He is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
(5) Hugh A. Donnelly, 24 March 1875 - 6 September 1944. He married Rebekah E. Viall. He is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
(6) Julia R.S. Donnelly, 1877-1979. She married James Hawkins Murphy 23 November 1893 in Johnson Co., TN. She is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
(7) William (Willie) D. Donnelly, 1879-1927. He married Georgia Long 31 December 1899 in Johnson Co., TN and is also buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
(8) Virginia (Virgie) J. Donnelly, 1882 - ?. Married J. Shaler Gilley, 9 February 1908.
(9) Doran H. Donnelly, 1885 - 1956. Married Della Atkins.
(10) Clarence C. Donnelly, 1890 - ?. Married Nancy Jackson


Here is a complete listing of all the children of William Donnelly and Sarah McQueen:

(1) Richard Alexander Donnelly, 5 November 1924 - 27 December 1905. He married Matilda C. Sullivan, 30 January 1851 in Johnson Co., TN. Both are buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
(2) William Kendrick Donnelly (see above).
(3) Rebecca Jane Donnelly, 2 Octover 1829 - 12 April 1909. She married Thomas Johnson Crosswhite 29 October 1851. They are buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
(4) Nancy Ann Elizabeth Donnelly, 7 May 1832 - 21 May 1905. She married Benjamin W. Jenkins 16 January 1853. She is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
(5) Robert Henry McMullin Donnelly (see above).
(6) John McHillery Donnelly, 25 February 1837 - 1904. He served in the 4th Tennessee Infantry (USA) during the Civil War. He married Amanda E. Wagner, 22 February 1880 in Johnson Co., TN. They were among those relocated to the Mountain View Cemetery by the TVA when the Watauga River Dam was built.
