Gibson M. Linkes

This is a photograph of Gibson M. LINKOUS/LINCUS/LINKES. He is Linda HOGAN and my great-great-grandfather on the Linkes side. He was born October 1851 in Grainger Co., TN, died March 27, 1925 in Elizabethton, Carter Co., TN, buried at Stanbery Cemetery, Johnson Co., TN. His parents were John B. LINKOUS/LINCUS and Mary Ann HOUSEWRIGHT of Grainger/Hawkins Co., TN. Gibson married Julia Ann HICKS/HIX on June 25, 1874 in Rogersville, Hawkins Co., TN, she was the daughter of Hiram HIX / HICKS and Jennie TEASTER of Watauga Co., NC & Johnson Co., TN.

Gibson was the first LINKES to settle in Johnson Co., TN, moving there in the 1870s from Hawkins Co., TN.
