Greer born 10 Oct 1833, NC, (son of Jesse Greer, Jr. and Frances "Frankie" Brown married 17 Jan 1858, in Johnson Co., TN, Ann (Annie) Reece, born 24 Nov 1839, TN, (daughter of Hugh Reece and Mary (Reece)) died 6 Feb 1920, Buried: Avery Co., NC, Banner Elk, Avery Co., NC. Wilburn died 27 Feb 1925 and is buried in Banner Elk, Avery Co., NC. During the Civil War he served with the 6th NC Cavalry, CSA. In the census of 1850 and 1860 they were listed in the 9th District, Johnson Co., Tn; in 1870 - North Fork, Ashe Co., NC; in 1880 - Cove Creek, Watauga Co., NC; 1900 and 1910 - Shawneehaw, Watauga Co., NC (1900, granddaughter, Manda Greer (2) living in household); 1920 - Banner Elk Twp., Avery Co., NC.
They had the following children:

  1. Isabella Greer born 3 Nov 1858, Johnson Co., TN, married 11 Nov 1877, in Johnson Co., TN, Andrew Jackson Proffitt, born 4 May 1855, NC, (son of William R. Proffitt and Sarah Reece) died 28 Jan 1917. Isabella died 13 Oct 1935. Census: 1860 - 9th District, Johnson Co., TN; 1870 - North Fork, Ashe Co., NC; 1880 - Beaver Dam, Watauga Co., NC; 1900 - Shawneehaw, Watauga Co., NC (mother of 8, 8 living).

  2. John Preston Greer born 30 Jun 1861, Johnson Co., TN, married 11 Nov 1881, in Johnson Co., TN, Callista Thompson, born 10 Dec 1865, NC. John died 29 Apr 1885, Watauga Co., NC. Census: 1870 - North Fork, Ashe Co., NC; 1880 - Cove Creek, Watauga Co., NC.

  3. Jesse Clinton Greer born 25 Apr 1864, Johnson Co., TN, married 4 Dec 1895, in Watauga Co., NC, Ida Culver, born 28 Nov 1871, Watauga Co., NC, (daughter of Robert N. Culver and Martha J. (Culver)) died 28 Sep 1903. Census: 1870 - North Fork, Ashe Co., NC; 1880 - Cove Creek, Watauga Co., NC.; 1900 and 1910 - Shawneehaw, Watauga Co., NC (1910 - sister, Hannah E. Greer (42) and niece, Maude E. Greer (13) were living in his household).

  4. Hannah Elizabeth (Bettie) Greer (1.Wilburn1 ) born 14 Dec 1868, Ashe Co., NC, died 27 Jan 1930, Shawneehaw, Watauga Co., NC. Census: 1870 - North Fork, Ashe Co., NC; 1880 - Cove Creek, Watauga Co., NC; 1900, 1910 and 1920 - Shawneehaw, Watauga Co., NC. In 1910 she was living with her brother Jesse Clinton Greer and in 1920 she was living with her daughter and son-in-law, James M. and Maude E. Michael.

  5. Mary E. Greer born 22 Jan 1871, Ashe Co., NC, died 22 Oct 1876, Buried: Ashe Co., NC, Isaac Wilson Cemetery, North Fork Twp.

  6. William Isaac Greer born 1 May 1874, Ashe Co., NC, married 14 Sep 1921, in Watauga Co., NC, Ina Dean Wilson, born 24 Oct 1892, (daughter of Lemuel Wilson and Cornelia D. Wilson). William died 1 Sep 1938, Avery Co., NC. Census: 1880 - Cove Creek, Watauga Co., NC; 1900 and 1910 - Shawneehaw, Watauga Co., NC; 1920 - Banner Elk Twp., Avery Co., NC.

  7. Biddie (Vida) R. Greer born 8 Oct 1877, NC, married Charlie Coffey, (son of Smith Coffey and Unidentified). Biddie died 23 Feb 1965, NC. Census: 1880 - Cove Creek, Watauga Co., NC; 1900 and 1910 - Shawneehaw, Watauga Co., NC; 1920 - Banner Elk Twp., Avery Co., NC.
