Medical Journal Dr. John Mason "Mace" Roberts 1852-1853 John Mason "Mace" Roberts was born 25 December 1825 in Carter Co., TN (in the area that became Johnson Co., TN) and died 12 February 1911, in Johnson Co. He was a son of Jacob Roberts and Nancy Uranea "Louraine" Robinson. He was practicing medicine by 1850 in Johnson County. He was certified by the State Board under the Grandfather Clause, 21 August 1889, on oath of W.W. Adams and James Blankenbeckler. He married 1st Lucinda Arnold (1824-1872), 18 August 1844 and 2nd Catherine Phillippi (1845 - 1932), daughter of David Phillippi and Jestenia Crigger. Information taken from "History of Johnson County 1986", published 1985 by The Johnson County Historical Society. A photograph of Dr. Roberts can be found at the JCT Cuzins photograph site. It is unknown exactly how far from Johnson County that Dr. Roberts traveled to administer to people. Many years ago, his granddaughter, Miss Gale Shoun, gave me a few sheets from his medical journal. The current status of the journal is unknown.
