Basil McVey Tribute 

Basil McVey was webmaster of Johnson County Genealogy from many

years after the passing of the site's creater, Ms. Mary Floy Katzman.  

Sadly, Basil passed away June 14, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.

His dedication to this website and the perpetuation of

the history of this county will ever be remembered and appreciated.  

                   Basil Lawson McVey, 65, went to be with the Lord on June 14, 2016. He was born in            Caldwell County, NC on March 24, 1951 to the late George Lewis Lawson McVey and Della Reid McVey. He is preceded in death bythe love of his life, JoAnne Parsons McVey, and two daughters, Teresa Goodwin and Angela Greer.

                                 
                  Basil is survived by his daughters; Sheila Bender (Brad), Donna Greer, Sherry Potter, and son, Marty McVey (Parvin); sister, Linda Nelson (J.C.), grandchildren; Emerald Mikeal, Jonathan Goodwin, Tyler Potter, Justin Potter, Matthew Greer, Alex Greer and 3 great-grandchildren.

                                 

                 He retired from the North Carolina Judicial System after 30 years of service.

                       A Celebration of Life will be held on

                      Monday, June 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
