1850 3rd Civil District Johnson County, Tennessee

Annotated by John B. Rochelle
Gray, Tennessee
Reviewers: Janie Bryant and Diana Dunn and others.
Comments, additions, corrections are welcome.

Due to apparent redistricting, households 1 through 4, and 5 through 13 are not enumerated in the 3rd District in 1860. Additionally several families moved to Missouri (Wayne & Crawford counties). While the 1850 census is considered a benchmark for family research (due to to its being the first census to list all individuals in a household by name), settlement in the 3rd District area goes back as much as 50 years. Earlier settlers and landowners, such as Tapley Wilson and Arthur Forrester, do not appear in the 1850 census for the 3rd District. No attempt has been made to reconstruct the earlier census listings for this district.

Note on Godfrey Dunn many references have been made to Godfrey having a middle name of Booker, but no Proof has been offered that this is his middle name. This annotated census listing uses Godfrey Dunn, pending proof of middle name. His son appears to have used Booker as a middle name.
